We’re only a couple of weeks away from Samsung’s Galaxy S20 flagship smartphone launch, and with the hype comes a rumor that’s music to everyone’s ears: the upcoming Galaxy Buds+ true wireless earbuds might be bundled with each S20+ and S20 Ultra pre-order. The leaked information comes by way of Evan Blass on Twitter. The rumor claims that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Buds+ as a follow-up to last year’s Galaxy Buds on February 11, along with the Galaxy S20 series. As a special treat to those who pre-order the Galaxy S20+ or S20 Ultra, the Galaxy Buds+ may become the incentive to take the dive early. Unfortunately, it seems like the standard Galaxy S20 might not be part of the deal.
Bigger and Slightly Better
The Galaxy Buds+ are the highly anticipated successor to the original Galaxy Buds launched alongside the Galaxy S10 lineup last February. The first Galaxy Buds competed directly against Apple’s AirPods by offering a true wireless setup and tighter integration with Android smartphones. Its successor, the Galaxy Buds+, is claimed to come with a larger battery and improved sound quality. Based on the leaked photos, they’re likely to sport the same design and arrive with the same pearl white color option at the start. Unfortunately, the leaks also say that these newer earbuds won’t offer active noise cancelation, which has become an increasingly popular feature on headphones and earbuds for the past few years. For reference, the AirPods Pro has active noise canceling capability. The lack of this feature may be a deal-breaker for those upgrading from the standard Galaxy Buds.
Premium All-Around
It’s important to note that this grand deal may depend on the region where you pre-order the Galaxy S20+ or S20 Ultra. Samsung tends to adjust its bundles depending on the markets where they sell the latest Galaxy smartphones. In the past, the Korean tech giant even included its televisions and tablets with Galaxy Note purchases. Considering that the Galaxy S20 series is destined to retail for well over $1,000, adding a pair of Galaxy Buds+ to the mix helps entice people into pre-ordering. And since the high-end Galaxy smartphones deliver reverse wireless charging, the Galaxy Buds+ can charge while placed on the back of the phone.
